ARTS Indonesia has not only time-honored traditions like the highly sophisticated court rituals of central Java, the tribal arts of outlying islands, the ancient musical forms of Gamelan or the Hindu and Buddhist temple achitecture, but also a very active modern arts scene. Young people follow worldwide trends and are continuously creating new and re-creating old ways. An example is the use of the ancient textile colouring technique Batik, together with a creative mind and modern chemical dyes, to create modern, abstract paintings. We have teamed up with some of Indonesia's foremost artists in this field and are proud to present: IndoArtNet is always looking for the newest trends in Indonesian arts and will promote young and creative artists as well as those who perfect those practised in the past. Works of all artists highlighted on these pages are for sale. For example, the abstract Batik painting above, called "Sunrise", is available for US$120. Please contact us for a complete list of available paintings and artworks with pictures and prices. |
